Who: livio and you
What: bob the builder'ing beiwe's church
When: early/mid april
Where: north grove
Warnings: hot men (and women?) at work 👀
[earlier in the month, livio sends a message via netbook, because he cannot type legibly on a tiny smartphone with his big fingers. you're welcome.]
Miss Beiwe's church has been moved to the northern part of the Grove, but it's still in pretty rough shape. ["miss" feels like such a pitiful way to address her, but he isn't going to just drop her first name casually!!] If anyone wants to pitch in with repairs, I'm providing materials and refreshments.
-
[the church itself is pretty pitiful, as far as being in one piece goes. the belltower is restored, but everything else... well, suffice to say, it's a good thing there's plenty of wood and stone left over from school repairs to work with.
livio has also prepared a little area with fresh baked bread, smoked cheese, and cured meat, as well as an entire wine barrel's worth of (eyeball) lemonade.
anyone who comes by to lend a hand will get pointed first to the food and drink, then to a selection of tools and safety gear.]
Thanks for comin'. Even if it's just spreadin' mortar or nailin' joints together, anything's helpful.
[livio himself will be doing enough heavy lifting for ten people, and he doesn't seem to so much as break a sweat doing it. stones the size of a preteen? no problem. if anything, he appears very pleased about the work. when he doesn't think anyone's watching, he'll even grin ear to ear, hum, and sway his thick, black dragon tail in a slow wag.]

For real though, Luca pops in and... starts to greet Livio, but that humming stops him. Luca has to stop for a moment, swaying to the song that the larger man crafts. Honestly, his heart kinda soars as he does.
But it's only a matter of time until he gets caught soooo... eventually Luca will clear his throat.]
Do you ever rest, my friend? Perhaps I should be the one insisting you get some refreshments.
[He says all of this while putting on the safety gear. He doesn't need it, not really, but he knows Livio will insist.]
no subject
Ah -- well, it's important work, 'n I don't exactly get tired like most folks... [yes, this is despite swinging around wooden beams that might as well still be tree-sized. but is anyone surprised by that anymore?
buuut, he recognizes that he'd be a hypocrite if he didn't go along with it! he'll pause just to pour himself a glass...]
It's good to see you, Luca. [especially after... everything, lately.]
no subject
[He doesn't harp on it, though. The fact that Livio pours himself a glass is enough for Luca. Mostly, at least. Luca does pause to sit on a pile of beams, then pats the space beside him. Treating yourself with kindness also involves resting, thank you.]
It's good to see you. I am... sorry if I worried you. [He glances away, briefly guilty. It was so easy to forget how his moods, his disappearances, could impact others.]
no subject
Ah... I won't lie, y'did. But I also don't blame ya for needin' time to process. I'd be a hypocrite, otherwise.
You holdin' up any better...? Need anything?
no subject
I am better than I should be, by all means. [He glances up at Livio with a sheepish smile.] I went home, in a matter of speaking, for a period of time. The distance helped. But it does not take away everything, nor would I want it to.
[He's quick to shake his head.]
But no, I do not need anything. And I wouldn't feel right asking, even if I did. Everyone else is dealing with far fresher wounds right now.
no subject
appearances can be deceiving, though, especially if one deliberately hides their pain. livio knows that all too well.]
Your wellbein's just as important as anyone else's. Plus, y'didn't ask, I offered! Wouldn't be a halfway decent friend if I didn't, now would I? 'specially when yer here, askin' me to treat myself with kindness, too. Ain't fair to not extend yerself the same grace.
Ah... I'm goin' on, aren't I? Suffice to say, I'm always around if y'need somethin', 'n it makes me happy to help.
no subject
[To his credit, Luca seems genuine in his words. There's no undercurrent of hidden emotion, or even a scrap of unspoken pain. There's just... gentle warmth and caring.]
I worry about my friends, as I am sure any one of us does. That's all.
no subject
Sure have. Me 'n mine're pretty okay, I reckon. I'd hate to say things've been "quiet," lest I tempt the bastard, but...
no subject
[But his smile certainly says it all.]
I'm glad you are happy, Livio. You and yours. It tends to come in rare supply, something I am sure I do not need to tell you, I am sure.
[His gaze falls down to where his hands have folded together on his lap. It's Luca's turn to feel a sense of jealousy, even as he kicks himself for so much as having had the thought.]
Keep them close, if you can. And treasure every moment.

But seeing a call for aid in repairing her church is like a beacon that he can't ignore. As her priest, he has dedicated himself to her cause. He wouldn't be a very good priest if he ignored this.
It doesn't take long for Joshua to show up, divested of his typical red scarves and shawl and with his wings neatly tucked against his back. Livio is a familiar face, and he greets the man with a warm smile. ]
And thank you for organizing it in my brother's absence. I'm not used to doing a lot of physical labor, but I will certainly help where I can.
no subject
Ah, well, I definitely got a push in the right direction, from the lady upstairs, herself...
[livio kind of figured that certain people, like joshua, might feel responsible for this to an extent, which is a big reason he made it a voluntary, grove-wide thing rather than reaching out directly. man who feels it necessary to take on every burden on the planet doesn't want others to feel the same pressure.]
If yer not up for physical stuff, I'm sure y'can help in other ways! Y'any good at organizin'? There's gotta be different rooms in this place, right? Or, shoot, just company'd be nice!
no subject
[ It's said with a smile bordering on a grin. Not because Beiwe demands things, but because it's the opposite. He himself would be hard pressed to say no to her when she has shown nothing but kindness and consideration.
But, Livio's assumption had been correct. It is something that Joshua feels responsible for, both because it had been Clive's project and because he and Clive had both been Beiwe's priests. But, he can recognize when someone else taking responsibility is a good thing. He can't do everything himself. ]
I could do all three, actually. Gladly so, in fact, and particularly when it comes to the latter. Thus, I find I must ask: have you eaten, my friend? When was the last time you've rested?
no subject
at the questions, his smile falters as he tilts his head. curse the wonky passage of time in the grove.]
... Y'know, I swear I have today, I just, uh... don't remember when... I'm fine, really! I can work 'n talk!
no subject
Perhaps we could eat and talk first before I get started on something. Then, we will both know that we are not shirking care for ourselves.
[ How can you say no to this smile, Livio? ]
no subject
Ah, alright... [if it reassures joshua to actually see liv eating and drinking, he'll comply, but not before gesturing to the spread for joshua first!]
Somethin' in particular y'wanna talk about? [he figures it's best to leave the floor open to joshua, considering liv doesn't know him as well as he knew clive, which still wasn't super well. now's a good a time as any to familiarize himself, but he doesn't want to overstep any boundaries.]
no subject
A little to the left. That post should go in that hole there.
[He's also here to ?? girlboss??? craneboss??????? Sorry Livio.]
no subject
This right here? [:D tell him he's good, crane-uncle-guy-boss!]
no subject
[Also good god boy you are Strong.]
But don't strain yourself, [he adds, almost as an afterthought,] I don't want to haul you off to the clinic, largely because I doubt I can lift you.
cw casual gore mention bless his humungous heart
Sure do! Y'got it, boss!
[as he gets to work hauling the other beams, he laughs, genuine and booming. thankfully he isn't directly in front of gnosis or the sheer force of it might knock the guy over.]
Oh, even if somethin' happens, just leave me there! My body'll fix itself! Oh, I've lost limbs, organs, half my face -- got swiss cheesed, pincushioned, torn in half, nearly all the way exploded -- [and at some point, he realizes what he's saying and stumbles over the words, face swiftly reddening.] I-I mean, all that is to say... it'll take a little longer'n usual, but I'll be fine in a few minutes.
no subject
[He's so glad that you can be swiss cheesed and be fine! (Gnosis worries more about the Triguns ASMR)]
I would prefer you don't have to rely on your regeneration, though, so again: don't strain yourself, do be careful, et cetera. [Gnosis is sketching something of a quick blueprint in his notebook as he says that. Hmm...] Regardless of if you'll be alright or not, I'd still worry about you.
no subject
[but... he gets the last bit. so much so that he pauses to lean against the next beam he sets upright and looks up at gnosis like a guilty dog.]
Sorry for makin' ya worry...
no subject
Don't apologise. I'm fond of everyone here, you could say, so I'll worry over your wellbeing regardless of what happens. You could burn yourself making toast and I'd still ask if you were alright.
no subject
We're fond o' you, too. Thanks for givin' a hoot, anyway. You been okay?

do not take this very seriously
when livio is not looking, zahliya sneaks under the table.
sometimes a little hand reaches for the cheese.
he thinks he's being very stealthy rn.]
i will take it very casually, just like livio does.
