Netbook 002: Of Moons and Mommys and Bugges

Hey, guys. It's Vash. If you haven't seen me around the Grove yet then... Surprise. I'm back.

I found... a few things out in the Forest. Or, adjacent to the Forest, I guess? There's a lighthouse out there, you see. I really really don't recommend going in it. There's someone in there that's been extremely Corrupted. I tried to talk him down, but about got killed in the process, so... haha! Don't do that.

But that sort of. Brings me to the first topic at hand. What progress have we made in curing Corruption. And, uh. What can I do to help with that? I don't want him to suffer any longer than he has. I want to help him if I can.

And... Uh. Secondly. Near the Lighthouse I found a statue. It was of a woman. She seemed really pretty, but really sad. Anyone recognize her?

[Beneath the message, anyone watching will see a relatively rough sketch start to take shape. When he finishes, he gets back to writing.]

She saved me. If I had to guess, she's a Guardian. I heard her voice and felt her around me. Cold, but not dangerous. Like a cold wind on a hot day, I guess? And she felt... sad, too.

I want to help her as well. Though I guess I really don't know where to begin with that. So uh. Any help you've got, I'm listening.

We haven't done any work toward curing the corruption. Zahliya still has the sun shard. He probably needs more help. I dunno. You could ask him. I haven't gone outside all month.

[It's not that he doesn't want to see Elsword in general, he's just feeling a lot of things and wants to mope and lie low about it.]

The sun shines in through my windows and sometimes Mizuki and I go to the river outside so it's fine.

What the Forest and the Creature make you do is out of your control. I'll never blame you for that.

You know if my brain were better I'd probably appreciate it more but I'll keep it in mind

I'm here for you anyway (thru a notebook). If you need healing Add is at the clinic rn and I think Mr. Pure Vanilla heals too. I hope you go get healed if youre hurt.

It is good to hear from you, Vash. I got caught up fighting the monsters back when they came into the Grove, so by the time the dust settled, you were gone. I was beginning to worry...

I think I know where that Lighthouse must be. Elsword and I went to cliffside near the ocean, but never saw any buildings. It must be further down than where we ended up. I'm shocked to hear that anyone could be living out there. I wasn't sure it was possible to.

[But if they're heavily corrupted...there you go.]

How large was the statue? Too large to be transported somewhere safer, I assume.

Even if you weren't fighting, I wasn't too keen on being caught or followed so... nothin' you could have done there.

If you guys ever find yourself out there again, be careful. Last I heard, he went back inside, but I don't know if he was capable of roaming around. I don't want him to hurt anyone else. I don't want him to blame himself for it, you know?

As for the statue, she was pretty big. She was carved into the cliff side itself. I, uh. Also spent quite a long time asleep on her. So. You know. You can imagine that size.

Do not worry, I don't plan on going out there myself any time soon, as least not alone. [AHEM] Why the Lighthouse, might I ask? Did he seem to stay near it for any particular reason?

So much too large to be moved, then. I suppose there is a reason she was carved into the side of the cliff...you don't suppose she's stuck there due to the Fog, do you?

It seemed like he was protecting something. Someone. But they were long gone by the time I got there, so I don't know. Whatever reason, he wasn't happy for me intruding.

I mean, back on Earth people said the moon controlled the tides. So maybe she's watching the ocean or something? I guess she could be stuck, but... it's all sort of beyond me, if I'm honest.

Wherever she is... she seemed conscious, at least. She responded to me.

I see. We'll have to keep that in the mind for future excursions, then. I just have to hope he's actually taking care of himself properly...

[But if he's that far gone, well. Who even knows.]

The fact that she exists and is out there is an incredible find on its own. It's possible she can still hear us from here, being that she is a god herself and all. But I, like you, feel a bit like this is over my head...it's something we'll have to discuss further.

We can... hope.

Maybe she can. I hope so. I'll try to... keep thinking of her. That's how it works, right? Faith gives them power and stuff?

[ There's relief seeing Vash's writing. Partially just pleased to see the other is all right - hopefully - but also for Livios sake. Now maybe he can begin to heal. ]

I am unsure we have made much progress at all. I have been researching what I can find in the Library, and discovered a spell I believe may help, but I am attempting to refine it before testing it. It is quite rudimentary.

[ The sketch is watched with interest. As well as her description. It reminds him of what Zahliya had said he felt when holding up the sun fragment to Beiwe's statue. The cold next to the warm. Of Dark Cacao's description of the Moon giving him a sense of calm and peace. ]

I do not recognize her, but that may be the Moon Goddess? The description you've spoken of regarding how you felt seems to fit?

A spell? [Yes, he's ignoring the bits about being glad that he's alright. He doesn't really feel that he deserves it.]

Can you tell me more about that? And the Moon Goddess? I think I've heard pieces but... never anything definitive. Guess I should have been listening better, huh?

Of course. The spell itself is simple, stating that standing under the light of the Moon while holding calendula will help to balance the body's energy. You may know them better as marigold, mayhaps. I am hoping by energies it means the Corruption.

I am afraid I do not know much about the Moon Goddess, beyond what Moder has told us. Hers is the power of Life and Rebirth, it would seem, as it is with her mighty help that life has begun to flourish again. And do not worry about listening, my friend, most of this was only revealed in full just recently.

It seems too simple, to just hold flowers and call it good. Do you think... maybe we need the Moon at full power? For her to uh. Be restored first? That seems like it'd make more sense. Otherwise, why wouldn't anyone have tried something like that before?

Sounds like I mighta missed a few things while I was out. Remind me to get an update at some point.

Yes, there was some rudimentary symbolism with it[ Doodles of various arcane symbols and marks appear ] but it is all very dated. I am sure I can make it more powerful. As well, I'd like to try it during the full Moon, when She is at her peak. Restoring Her would be even better. You said you found her statue? Mayhap testing it on site would be best. Do you think you could lead a few of us there?

Ah, I am sure Livio will fill you in, he was most dutiful in taking notes, despite his grief. And I am sure he would be delighted to see you, if he has not already!

[Yeahhh, he doesn't know what to make of any of that but... he'll be making a mental note of the marks all the same. He can't say he recognizes any of them off hand, though.]

We could try. We'll just have to be careful. I really don't want to agitate that guy again. I don't think it'll be a problem if we stay clear, but it is something to keep in mind.

[There's a long pause. Vash almost considers ignoring the second statement entirely. He doesn't want to get into this, especially in a place where everyone can see their conversation. But he gets the feeling Pure Vanilla won't let it go if he tries to dodge the question.]

That's... kind of what I got from her too. Kindly, but strong. She was capable of fending off - someone, while protecting me. Healing me.

Strong and definitely not mortal is right.

Don't regret finding her either. Maybe not all of the circumstances, but she sure saved my hide.
