Who: The Mizuki Quest Crew What: Mizuki Quest When: Roughly around the end of Feburary Where: The Caerula Arbor Warnings: Will come up in tags when appears
It's worth a shot, at least. I know how to get out in case of an emergency. Besides, trying to wake him up might tell us more about what's going on.
[So, Dipper will go ahead and kneel down next to Joshua. He holds out a hand to summon what looks like a burst of black smoke from his chest, that eventually forms into a little round feathery creature with red eyes. Alcaid will take their place on Dipper's shoulder. Dipper hands the creature his pendent, which they hold in ....their mouth? Hard to say with a void creature.]
If something goes wrong, Alcaid has the thing that can wake me in a pinch. They'll alert you guys if I run into trouble.
[And with that, he places a hand over Joshua's forehead and closes his eyes. Is he able to get inside? Do his powers short out just like they have been trying to use them on any of the memories so far? What is there to learn here-]
[ With your rolled 3, you are able to learn… Joshua is, in fact, asleep. Congrats!🎉🎊🍾
Fortunately, while Dipper’s powers have not worked with the memories, this does not seem to be the same paralysis that the brand inflicts. Joshua is just taking a little nappy nap. Which means, his powers do work here. ]
When Dipper steps into Joshua's dreams, he'll find himself standing in the bailey outside of a grand castle. It's bustling with activity, many of the folks around being in some sort of guard unit. Rather than horses, there are large, yellow birds saddled up and being tended to.
It's a very busy scene. But, if Dipper looks around long enough, he will spot a group of kids - the younger boy and the girl sitting on crates with a puppy between them, and the older boy standing with a wooden practice sword in his hand. They seem to be in deep, enthusiastic conversation abiut something, featuring a great deal of smiles and laughs.
Whether he approaches or simply watches for a bit, eventually he will get the attention of the boy with blond hair, though the other two and the pup do not seem to notice his presence. As soon as the younger Joshua notices Dipper, his smile fades into confusion and apprehension, and then a sort of realization as the pristine dream is broken by the existence of someone that shouldn't be there.
The dream abruptly ends as Joshua's eyes snap open and he sits up pushing up on his elbows with a sharp inhale. What is he... doing on the floor? For a moment, he presses a hand to his head, just over his eyes, trying to will the disorientation away. ]
[When Joshua abruptly wakes back up, Sesa can't help but let out an audible sigh of relief. Given the uncertainty of their situation, even though he wasn't dead, that doesn't necessarily mean he was guaranteed to wake up so easily...or at all. But that just begs the question...
What happened, exactly? And how are they meant to go in there if they fall asleep the moment they step past the threshold?
For now, he keeps those questions to himself, since he doubts anyone here would know the answers any more than he does.]
It's a relief to see you are alright. You have Dipper to thank, for that.
[He takes his pendent back from Alcaid, who remains sitting on his shoulder, and also gets to his feet.]
Do you remember anything about the dream you had? It looked like something trapped you in some kind of memory, but as soon as you saw me, you snapped out of it.
[He’s curious to know if it is what it reminded Dipper of in his brief glimpse of it.]
[... so the exact moment he started seeing the vision, he'd passed out. But he could still see everyone when he looked back. That's... odd.
Hopefully, his connection to the feather in Clive's possession didn't relay that. Ugh. He takes Affogato's hand, pulling himself upright. ]
Thank you. [ And, to Livio: ] I'm fine. I can keep going.
[ Dipper's question gets a second of silent consideration. Was there anything odd about it, other than how quickly it has come on? Best to begin from the start. ]
At first, I could still see all of you when I looked back. But after a few seconds, it just felt... comforting. I wouldn't say it was a memory, exactly - more like... an idealized one? I can't recall the exact events actually happening. But I felt incredibly happy there, as though it was real...
[Right so it sounded exactly like Mabelland. The fucking metaphysical dream world prison Bill had locked his sister in. It let you create a world of what you wanted most, and slowly brainwashed you into never wishing to leave. It sounds a lot like to him that maybe whatever might be beyond that door really does not want them to come in, and has tailor designed dreams to make them happy and compliant so they do not.]
[Dipper opens his mouth to voice all of that but what comes out instead is-]
Holy shit is that a d8?
[a pause as Dipper just outs himself as a colossal nerd (like that was ever a secret).]
Uh. It's dice for um. For a tabletop roleplaying game.
[sorry, livio is a joth, he has never heard of tabletop in his LIFE. he also does not understand the devastating consequences that rolling (DAMAGE!!!!) dice may have. especially a mystery die that appeared out of thin air.
he opens his mouth to say some shit like "this feels like a waste of time but whatever y'all know better than me" but ultimately... saying that would also be a waste of time. so he just shrugs and watches instead.]
[Sesa had been standing back kindof just letting the others do their thing, but when the die is mentioned, he’ll take a step forward into the group proper, holding out a clawed hand towards Joshua.]
May I see it for a moment?
[He’s not sure if it means anything, but…he plays DND with Mizuki all the time. ALL the time. If this die belonged to him, surely he’d recognize it, wouldn’t he?]
[ A die... for a "tabletop role playing game"? Joshua looks very much out of his element for a moment. He has no idea what that is, outside of some sort of game... ]
Should we really roll it if we don't know what it might do?
[ Though, Sesa seems interested. He's happy to hand it over to him. ]
[Well the fact that it’s glowing is more than a little concerning. But no it’s just a blue die otherwise…damn. At the very least, he hoped if it was Mizuki’s they’d at least have confirmation he was indeed in there somewhere…
But the fact alone that it appeared in Joshua’s hand lends itself to being important in some way, and he fears that they don’t have many options ahead of them beyond going in as well, which they already know results in being rendered unconscious and swept into an idealistic vision.
So, without asking or saying anything more, Sesa gives the die a light toss onto the nearest surface.]
[ Affogato remains tactically behind Joshua as he peeks over his shoulder for the - why is everyone taller than him this is outrageous - result as Sesa rolls. ]

What... what happened?

[ So why doesn't it translate into your voice, sir. He tilts his head a little to eye Joshua sitting up. ]
You stepped through into the darkness and were instantly unconscious. We have all been waiting with baited breath to ascertain that you are unharmed.
[ If your foot hurts from Affogato jamming it with his staff's very sharp end, you DID fall so it was just that. Haha.
He turns towards him and offers him his hand, quite like he did after he pushed him over into the snow after the Suri fight to make his point. ]

after he gets a glare, though, joshua and dipper both get looks of concern. livio won't crowd them, there's already a few people over there.]

An eight-sided dice?

As Dipper has said [ Ignoring Gnosis ] it is a dice. Used for games or gambling.

Anyways, he's probably joking on account of that smile of his.
